Denny Schwartz
Surfer, Board Builder
Denny Schwartz has been shaping boards in Hawai‘i for over 35 years. Raised in Niu Valley, his love for the ocean led him from boogie boarding to surfing—and ultimately to building boards in the mid-80s while still in high school. After leaving a valet job in 1985, Denny committed full-time to the craft and never looked back.
Over the decades, he’s shaped everything from surfboards and sailboards to SUPs and high-performance foil boards. If you can ride it, Denny can build it.
He’s been fortunate to work alongside legends like George Vicente (RIA), Ed Barbera, Bob White (WRV), and Ben Aipa (RIA)—ghost shaping for Aipa from 1995–2001. He also trained in vacuum bagging on Maui with Wade Easterling andBill Foote, and refined his laminating and sanding skills with top builders on the North Shore.
From 2001 to 2012, Denny worked in sustainable construction on the mainland—bringing eco-conscious methods back into his board building process.
Today, Denny combines decades of craftsmanship, innovation, and a deep respect for the ocean to create custom boards built to perform—and built to last.
